Doug MacLeod (new release)

B&T 954 – Doug MacLeod – Live in Europe

We are preparing another great release ! Between 2002 and 2008 we released four great studio CD’s by Doug MacLeod on Black and Tan Records. But since the real magic comes out during his shows we also recorded a live concert in 2006. These live recordings were released on a limited edition concert DVD (The Blues In Me). The DVD is no longer available and we think it is time to make this great music available on other platforms. We edited the recordings and extracted eleven complete songs from the two live sets. This will be the first official (audio) release of Doug playing live as a solo artist.The release will only be available as stream and download on all the platforms. Scheduled release date is March 3, 2016.

Escutem One Chord Blues do Boo Boo Davis

O Boo Boo Davis é um daqueles músicos de Blues que estão bem escondidos no coração do Mississippi, mais exatamente na cidade de Drew, a cidade da ativista Mae Bertha Carter e do pai dos irmãos Manning da NFL. Boo Boo tocou por décadas em St. Louis e teve a oportunidade de servir como banda de apoio a diversos músicos que por lá passaram, B.B. King antes da fama foi um deles. Ao contrário do que você pensa, esse não é um Delta Blues, o som dele é eletrificado, mas ainda é possível encontrar o Delta em suas canções.

Immer wenn ich einen alten Hounddog wie BOO BOO DAVIS höre, denke ich mir <warum ist dieser Mann nicht längst international und folgedem auch hierzulande bekannt?> Groovige “Jimi-Hendrix”-Licks, eine schnarrende an den Klang von Screaming Jay Hawkins erinnernde Stimme, verzerrte Mundharmonika-Riffs und eine dröhnende Orgel (gespielt von Roel Spanjers), die geradezu von der Bühne eines 60er Jahre “Doors”-Konzerts zu den Aufnahmen dieser Scheibe hinüber gewandert ist. “The Snake” ist der geniale Auftakt des Albums “One Chord Blues”, das die besten und interessantesten Stücke seiner bisher veröffentlichten Studio Alben zusammenfasst. Der als James Davis geborene Musiker aus dem Süden der USA ist seit den 70er Jahren unterwegs und hat sich nie viel um Mainstream oder kommerzielle Dinge geschert. Auftreten – schlafen – essen’n’trinken – die verdiente Kohle für Miete oder andere nützliche Dinge ausgeben und so wiederholt sich der Kreislauf seit Jahren.
