We created a new sub label called KuvVer Records. This label is specially set up to release cover versions of well known songs from all kind of styles. Our first release is

KR 600 – Jan Mittendorp – St James Infirmary

Recently I started re-visiting songs that I haven’t played for years. Here is my current version from one of the first jazz/blues songs that I ever played on a guitar (apr 45 years ago). It’s an instrumental version of this classic song with a touch of electro.

first review for new ElectroBluesSociety single

Dutch Blues act ElectroBluesSociety release a hauntingly spectral musical accompaniment to the late Roscoe Chenier’s acapella rendition of gospel standby “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”. Interestingly, ElectroBluesSociety, a Dutch blues act, comprised of Jasper Mortier (drums, bass) and Jan Mittendorp (guitar, production), who worked with Roscoe Chenier on several releases and several European tours decided to pay tribute to their late friend by adding a spectral and moody arrangement Chenier’s vocal that’s appropriately bluesy yet subtly modern, while retaining the timeless vibe of the original vocal take.

B&T 965 – Harrison Kennedy & miXendorp – Bob Lo Island (remix)

Best known as the lead vocalist of the Chairmen of the Board Harrison Kennedy was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, before moving to Detroit to join up with this group that was started as part of the new Holland-Dozier-Holland label Invictus / Hot Wax. In the mid-’70s, Kennedy left the group and struck out on a solo career. Over the years he has been able to pull from styles as varied as funk, soul, R&B, folk, rock, and gospel. In 2008, Kennedy was nominated for Best Blues Recording in Canada’s Juno Awards. Here is a new miXendorp remix of one of his songs. The original recording of this song was only voice and percussion and it was released by Harrison on Black and Tan Records in 2005.

yesterday we released a new single on Black and Tan Records :

B&T 963 – Instinctively Wrong (remix) – Jimmy Reiter & miXendorp

Jimmy Reiter is a guitarist, singer and convincing songwriter, firmly rooted in the tradition of Blues and R&B. For over 10 years Jimmy was lead guitarist with US Blues singer/harmonica player Doug Jay as well as supporting player for numerous international Blues artists on their European tours, such as Larry Garner, Big Daddy Wilson, Albie Donnelly and Memo Gonzalez. In 2011 Jimmy started working under his won name and so far he released two albums.  Last month Jimmy and his band received the German Blues Award for Best Band of 2017.
